This is stated in a message posted on the Carter Center website.

“Last weekend, former US President Jimmy Carter was admitted to the Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus, Georgia, to treat a urinary tract infection,” the statement said.

The center also said that Carter "feels better and intends to return home soon."

In November, the former US president was hospitalized for procedures to reduce intracranial pressure.

On October 25, Carter was discharged from the hospital after treatment for a pelvic fracture resulting from a fall at home.

In May, Carter underwent surgery after a hip fracture.
