The art-interested doctor Nils Tryding has donated a total of 154 original posters by Barcelona artist Joan Miró to the municipality.

Most of the works are packed in transport boxes, but now the interest is shown to permanently display the entire collection in a new museum in Kristianstad. It will then be Sweden's first Mirómuseum.

- This is as far as I know the only complete collection in the world. I think the museum could be the main tourist destination in Kristianstad, ”says Göran Samuelsson, one of the initiators.

Can be tourist magnet

The collection has previously been exhibited at exhibitions in Eastern Europe, at Waldemarsudde in Stockholm and in Borlänge. There they have attracted many visitors.

- From an art perspective, it is a unique collection. It can become a magnet if it is displayed in Kristianstad, not only nationally but also internationally, says Thomas Kjellgren, former art gallery manager.

Has started an investigation

Kristianstad Municipality has recently launched an investigation into what is needed to establish a new museum. Among other things, a local must be arranged and someone must be responsible for the operating costs.

According to the group behind the idea for the art museum, a large room opposite the city gallery is relevant to the project. They hope to be inaugurated as early as May next year.
