“According to updated data, there were 43 passengers and a driver in the bus. As a result of the accident, 41 people were injured, 19 of them died, including two children. 14 people were hospitalized, the condition of three of them is assessed as grave, ”the press service of the department reports to TASS.

The Ministry of Health reports 19 hospitalized. Moreover, the condition of 18 of them is assessed as moderate.

According to the traffic police, the front wheel of the car exploded. Because of this, the driver lost control, after which the bus fell into the river.

“Due to a rupture of the front wheel, he made an exit from the carriageway to the right along the course of the movement, followed by a rollover of the vehicle into the Kuenga river,” the ministry said in a statement.

It is reported that the Kia Granbird model bus traveled along the Sretensk - Chita route and transported 43 passengers. The accident occurred on the 60th kilometer of the Mogoytuy-Sretensk-Olochi road.

Two helicopters of the regional center for disaster medicine flew to the scene of the accident, TASS reported. The team includes a surgeon, a neurosurgeon, two anesthetists and a traumatologist.

In addition to doctors, policemen and rescuers work, and the governor of the Trans-Baikal Territory Alexander Osipov also went to the scene of the tragedy.

“In total, more than 70 people and 23 pieces of equipment were involved in the liquidation of the consequences of the accident,” said Nikolai Basov, head of the Main Directorate of the Russian Emergencies Ministry for the Trans-Baikal Territory.
