Unconsciousness, twitching and cramps are common symptoms.

- It started in the summer with occasional cases, but we have seen a sharp increase this autumn, says veterinarian Madeleine Johansson at Strömsholm Animal Hospital.

Some have been able to save them by treating them with anticonvulsants, for example. Others have had to kill.

"Mouse poisoning should not cause such great harm to our pets," says Madeleine Johansson, and says that they have been in contact with companies that handle the poison, informed them of the situation and hope they absorb the information.

The poison should be laid out where the cats cannot access, but the mice do not die immediately but can run away. In this way, cats and other animals can get poison.
