After the mobilization of Friday against the presidential election of December 12, a counter-demonstration took place this Saturday, in support of the next election. And to denounce foreign interference in the affairs of the country.

This demonstration took place at the call of the UGTA, the union of workers, traditionally close to power. In the street, several hundred people mostly men, in scattered ranks, far away from the massive family mobilization of Friday.

The banners relayed essentially three messages: total support to the army, which currently exercises the power, support for the elections of December 12 and " NO to foreign interference ", message in response to a resolution voted Thursday by the European Parliament condemning "arbitrary" arrests within the protest movement.

Unlike Friday's marches, today's march in Algiers has benefited from supervision by uniformed and plainclothes policemen. Some protesters did not hide their hostility to Friday's protesters. They received in response the insults of onlookers.

The march of this Saturday was broadcast live on several media close to power and national television. Exceptional coverage with regard to the number of protesters.

Three journalists working for an online media deemed favorable to the Friday movement were arrested before being released two hours later.
