The grants were made in Kungsbacka, Varberg, Falkenberg and Halmstad and the police made the effort together with the Swedish Tax Agency, the Swedish Criminal Justice Agency, the Swedish Work Environment Authority, the Social Insurance Agency, the Swedish Migration Agency and the municipalities' permit units.

Focus on certain industries

The focus was on industries that are particularly interesting in terms of staff without work permits such as construction, restaurant, car service and beauty salons.

Jenny Widén, press spokesperson for the Police, explains that such attempts are made at regular intervals.

About 10 taken in custody

- About 10 people have been taken into custody. These are people who do not have the right to reside in the country and who have been used as illegal labor by their employers. A 16-year-old who has worked for one of the employers has been handed over to social authorities, she says.

The results of the effort are being summarized, and at the beginning of next week more accurate figures are expected to be able to be reported.
