INTERVIEW

As Black Friday, a day of super promotions on the Internet and in stores, is held on Friday, voices are rising and actions are taking place to denounce this day as a symbol of overconsumption with a strong environmental impact. Jean-François Julliard, the managing director of Greenpeace France, spoke about the relevance of the actions of the activists on Friday evening on Europe 1.

Movements like Green Friday or Block Friday have decided to make their voices heard and activist groups like Extinction Rebellion, Youth for Climate and Attac have organized actions in France on Friday, as at the headquarters of Amazon. In 2019, 650 French brands, such as Naturalia, Nature and Discoveries and Jimmy Fairly, decided to boycott Black Friday.
