In total, this amounts to 18.5 million, which will be saved according to the proposal that is currently on the table and which the politicians in the pre- and primary school board decided on.

Primarily, it is the preschool and leisure homes that are affected where one of the proposals involves a reduction in the proportion of preschool teachers and an increase in the proportion of childcare workers.

- This will be introduced gradually, but that does not mean that staff will have to be laid off. The largest part of the committee agrees with this as well, says the chairman of the board Moa Brydsten (S).

Teachers' Union dissatisfied

Today, that distribution is 62 percent preschool teacher and 38 percent childcare but within a two-year period, politicians want a 50-50 distribution. Such a change would in that case mean a saving of about 7 million.

But the proposal has drawn criticism from the Teachers' Union, which says that no such thing has ever been seen and that the budget is tightened too hard year after year. Therefore, a letter has also been sent to all members of the committee, hoping that the politicians will be able to rethink and find other alternatives such as pushing money or making structural changes.
