“December 31st, no one works anyway. That is, they formally work, but in fact they are preparing for the holiday or are already celebrating. So for both the employer and the employee December 31 as a working day is inconvenient. For the employer, it is inconvenient because productivity is declining. For the employee - because he wants to go home faster. Such a proposal seems quite reasonable. If we talk about the fact that this transfer answers the population’s request, it really allows employers and employees to more rationally manage their weekends and working days, ”he said.

According to the expert, this issue is being raised at the regional level and some governors have already postponed working days from December 31 to December 28, and taking into account the attitude of deputies to this idea, "there are chances for a positive solution."

Earlier, a draft law was submitted to the State Duma, according to which it is proposed to make December 31 a day off.

It is noted that December 31 will be a non-working day if this day is not a holiday according to the calendar.
