The Moscow mayor was asked if the Moscow authorities, following the example of the Tomsk administration, could decide to introduce an additional day off for residents of the city on December 31.

“Tomsk has a nice beautiful life, an extra weekend. We don’t live like that. I don’t really understand how he (the governor of Tomsk. - RT ) could have made such a decision, probably a recommendation, because I can’t oblige commercial enterprises to declare days off for their employees, ”Sobyanin said.

According to him, civil servants in Moscow on the eve of the New Year, on the contrary, are more busy in connection with the organization of festive events.

“I can make my officials (December 31. - RT ) a day off, but we, on the contrary, usually work more than on regular New Year’s days, so we need them at work to ensure holidays,” Traveling on Christmas Day "And a bunch of events, so it’s unlikely to have to go for a walk," the Moscow Mayor explained.

He also expressed the opinion that ordinary Muscovites on December 31 gather with colleagues at corporate parties.

“Nevertheless ... celebrate at the enterprises of the 31st, try to communicate with colleagues somehow, raise a glass of champagne, say some festive words. When we remove this day from the workers, we deprive them of this opportunity, ”said the mayor of the capital.

Earlier, a bill was introduced to the State Duma that is supposed to make December 31 a day off.

State Duma Vice-Speaker Igor Lebedev, in an interview with URA.RU, expressed the opinion that this initiative will most likely not be adopted this year, and on December 31st will remain a working day.
