EELV leader Yannick Jadot said on Thursday he would demonstrate at the December 5 mobilization day against pensions, accusing the government of pursuing a policy of "social insecurity".

Asked about France Inter to know if he supported the movement of December 5 and if he would be on the street, the MEP answered "yes" to both questions.

"When you have a government that constantly says + I agree + but, when it says + social justice +, in the end it ends in a social precariousness, it is right to mobilize," he said, referring also the unemployment insurance reform that will "degrade the conditions of 1.4 million people" and the "500,000 more people" passed under the poverty line in 2018.

"Worse", on hospital records, "yellow vests", retreats, "this government understands only the balance of power rather than social democracy, the debate on the real issues," added Mr. Jadot.

He also lambasted "the communication of the government", which makes "we do not understand anything" to the pension reform.

Regarding the special schemes, which the government wants to end to create a universal retirement system, he found it "normal to differentiate exit from retirement by CV", citing the "strain" of certain trades, such as railwaymen, "the weekend, the night, during the holidays".

"I did not see the government put the jobsite of hardship at the heart of the pension reform," he said, referring to these positions occupied by "women who are standing all day in the cold to empty chickens ".

From the PS to EELV via LFI and the PCF, the left unanimously supports the reconductible strike of 5 December. On the right, LR does not call to protest, unlike François Asselineau, the leader of the Republican People's Union (UPR).
