Al-Rayyan International Airport opened yesterday in Al-Mukalla city in the Yemeni province of Hadramout, after being rehabilitated by the UAE as part of its continuous support to the brotherly Yemeni people, which covered all fields.

Al-Rayyan International Airport resumed incoming and outgoing flights to and from the airport, after nearly five years of stoppage due to damage to it during al-Qaeda's takeover of the Hadramaut coast in 2015.

As part of its continuous support for vital projects on the Yemeni arena, the UAE has built airport lounges and provided them with modern equipment and equipment, maintenance of airport runways and the construction of control towers.This contributes to upgrading the services provided by Al-Rayyan Airport and alleviating the suffering of the brotherly Yemeni people.

The airport has been equipped with modern inspection devices, which ensure security measures in accordance with international standards, in addition to the establishment of new routes to take into account the tasks of dealing with the large number of passengers, and reduce congestion at peak times.

It took about a year to rebuild Al-Rayyan airport, which serves four major governorates - Hadramout, Mahra, Socotra and Shabwa - where the old airport was rehabilitated and three new buildings with state-of-the-art equipment were built, making it one of the most important airports in Yemen.

The director of Al-Rayyan International Airport, Anis Baswaitin, said that the opening of the airport delighted the hearts of the sons of Hadhramaut and neighboring governorates, pointing out that the arrival of the first flight of Yemen Airways with 149 passengers to Al-Rayyan airport, after a hiatus for years, had a great impact on the hearts of the sons of Yemen who They suffered a lot from the hardship of traveling, especially patients, students and Yemeni families who wanted to travel abroad.

He thanked the UAE and its wise leadership for standing by the people of Yemen and alleviating their suffering through the adoption of this vital project, which would provide hope for the people of Hadramout and neighboring areas.

In the same context, the General Authority of Civil Aviation in Yemen notified all airlines operating in the Republic of Yemen, and the United Nations organizations in Yemen, the reopening of Al-Rayyan International Airport and its readiness to receive flights.

The city of Hadramout is witnessing many developmental, social and security achievements made after the expulsion of Al-Qaeda members from the Sahel Hadramout areas with the support of the Arab coalition countries led by Saudi Arabia.
