“Today, the Russian Ministry of Defense is transferring to the Armed Forces of the Kyrgyz Republic another batch of military equipment as part of the provision of gratuitous military-technical assistance. These are two medium-range multi-purpose helicopters Mi-8MT and two mobile ground-based radar stations P-18-2 from the Air Defense Forces of the Kyrgyz Republic, repaired and upgraded to a modern level at Russian enterprises, ”said Alexander Fomin, deputy head of the Russian military department.

According to him, helicopters will allow quickly and with high quality to solve problems in mountainous areas and inaccessibility of certain territories, significantly increase the capabilities of the Kyrgyz Air Defense Forces.

According to the deputy minister, the modernized radars will significantly expand the ability to protect the state’s air borders from any manifestations of terrorist danger.

Fomin emphasized that the ongoing development of friendly and allied relations between the two countries is one of the most important factors for maintaining stability in the region.

In March, Moscow and Bishkek adopted a protocol amending the agreement on the Russian military base Kant in Kyrgyzstan.
