Hooker La Rochelle Pierre Bourgarit was suspended six weeks following the "fork" which had earned him an expulsion Sunday against Sale in the European Cup, announced Wednesday the EPCR, organizer of the competition.

"La Rochelle hooker Pierre Bourgarit was suspended for six weeks following an independent disciplinary hearing in London today regarding his club's second Champions Cup match against the Sale Sharks at AJ Bell. Stadium ", explains the EPCR in a statement.

The 22-year-old Rochelais, selected twice in French teams, was excluded in the 38th minute for putting his fingers in the eyes (a "fork") of the Englishman Tom Curry.

The "blank disciplinary record" of the player and the absence of "aggravating factor" avoided Pierre Bourgarit heavier suspension, which would have been at least 12 weeks, adds the EPCR.

Bourgarit will be suspended for the third and fourth day of the European Cup and for the next four meetings of Top 14 La Rochelle.

The second line of South African Montpellier Jacques du Plessis was sentenced to five weeks of suspension for a nudge Sunday in the European Cup against Gloucester. He will miss two European Cup matches and three Top 14.
