“The Cabinet appointed Monakhova Tatyana Vasilievna as the Commissioner for the protection of the state language,” he wrote in his Telegram.

The position of the language ombudsman in the country is provided for by the law “On ensuring the functioning of the Ukrainian language as the state language”, which entered into force on July 16.

Earlier in Ukraine, a national commission on state language standards was created, which, among other things, “will check the level of state language proficiency in order to obtain Ukrainian citizenship or occupy positions defined by law”.

Expert Alexander Asafov assessed the law on the state language in an interview with Nation News, noting that "in practice, people will run into difficulties."
