There will be a second round of presidential elections in Guinea Bissau. The electoral commission announced in the morning the provisional results of the election of Sunday, November 24. The PAIGC candidate who is leading, Domingos Simões Pereira, will face Umaro Sissoco Embalo.

DSP, as is sometimes called Domingos Simões Pereira , gets 40.13% of the vote against 27.65% for Umaro Sissoco Embalo candidate of MADEM, first opposition party in Parliament. Embalo is a veteran of the PAIGC, a historic party and his future opponent for the second round.

These are two former prime ministers who will meet for the second round scheduled for December 29. The negotiations will begin for alliances, while the participation of voters was very important with 73% of voters: the two leading parties in particular courting the voters of Nuno Nabiam, candidate of the PRS / APU who came third in the presidential election with 13.16%.

José Mario Vaz far from the second round

In 5th place, Carlos Gomes Junior, nicknamed "Cadogo", gets less than 3% of the vote. He was the 2012 presidential favorite, but was overthrown by the military between the two rounds.
