Strasbourg (dpa) - The new EU Commission under Ursula von der Leyen can take office on 1 December. The European Parliament confirmed by the Leyens team with 26 commissioners today in Strasbourg. For the first time in more than 50 years, Germany is once again at the helm of the Brussels executive branch - and for the first time ever, a woman takes over the post. Von der Leyen had announced in a speech to the MEP this morning for the next five years a change in Europe that would affect the whole of society and the economy.
