“In accordance with the current norms and principles of social insurance, a woman who is on parental leave to care for a child under the age of one and a half years receives a benefit,” Nilov explained.

The deputy added that at the age of a child from one and a half to three years, if a woman previously worked, she can continue to be on leave to care for him, but she will not receive benefits from the Social Insurance Fund at her own expense.

Nilov recalled that in Russia there was a measure of social support, in which 50 rubles were paid monthly for each child aged from one and a half to three years.

“It has been repeatedly proposed to extend the rate at which a woman could receive benefits while on leave to care for a child up to three years. Long discussions, our proposals, our regular meetings with the Prime Minister found a legislative solution, but taking into account the criteria of need, ”he said.

The deputy noted that now, if the family has children and the per capita income is below the two subsistence minimums established in the relevant entity, then every month until the age of three years, the family will receive benefits in the amount of the subsistence minimum established for the child in the relevant entity.

Nilov added that since this norm was legislatively fixed, the decree, which had previously been in force and determined the measure of support at 50 rubles, had lost its force.

Earlier, Russian leader Vladimir Putin signed a decree abolishing from January 1, 2020 monthly compensation payments in the amount of 50 rubles for caring for a child aged from one and a half years to three.
