Maltese Tourism Minister Konrad Mizzi announced Tuesday his resignation from the government of Joseph Muscat, a few hours after the resignation of the Prime Minister's chief of staff, as part of the investigation into the murder of journalist Daphne Caruana.

The links between Labor's chief of staff and Yorgen Fenech, the businessman arrested last week , were known. Yorgen Fenech, who is considered by the family of Daphne Caruana Galizia as one of the sponsors of the murder, reportedly told him about the police.

Keith Schembri, summoned to be heard by the police, had no choice, he had to leave his post to protect his boss Joseph Muscat. A few hours later, Tourism Minister Konrad Mizzi also announced his resignation to allow, he told the government, to continue his work.

Suspected by the journalist murdered for receiving bribes through his Panamanian companies, he must also be questioned by the investigators.

The investigation seems to have accelerated since an intermediary in the assassination of Daphne Caruana Galizia got immunity in exchange for revelations, it would be a taxi driver.

Yorgen Fenech, who has just been released on bail, also claims immunity. Splintered, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat has ruled out for the moment to resign.
