Earlier, The Washington Post reported that Esper is asking for Spencer's resignation due to a loss of confidence.

According to the publication, the head of the Pentagon took this step after it became known about the secret proposal of the U.S. Navy Secretary to White House representatives not to intervene in the case against the U.S. military Edward Gallager, who was accused of war crimes in Iraq in 2017.
