Hans Wiklund took over as Acting Regional Director in September 2017. He became Deputy Chief in June of the same year and was previously Regional Development Director at the County Council.

- It is not an easy decision to leave Region Västernorrland. Good colleagues and an important business make it a fantastic workplace. The assignment as a university director simply feels like a dream job for me so I have chosen to accept yes, says Hans Wiklund in a press release.

Unwelcome Christmas present

That the region's highest official jumps off a highly unwelcome Christmas present for the regional management who has just received his large savings program in the regional council. The Chairman of the Regional Board Glenn Nordlund (S) is the head of the regional director.

- Hans Wiklund has done very good work during his years in the region. I wish him all the best in his new assignment, ”says Glenn Nordlund.

Unclear end date

The regional director is the highest official in the business and the only manager appointed directly by the politicians in the regional board.

Hans Wiklund has three months' notice. But when he quit is not determined yet.

- We will now start the work of recruiting the regional director's successor as soon as possible. When that process is to be completed, I cannot say today. It is important that we get a good transition and that is where Hans Wiklund and I have a good dialogue, says regional councilor Glenn Nordlund (S).

Hard to replace

- He has been a cohesive force for Region Västernorrland that will be difficult to replace, "is the opposition council's Jonny Lundin (C) comment.

This post has been turbulent for a number of years.

In June 2017, Inger Bergström left the job in the surge after the so-called Thelin business. Bergström had hidden away a gold-edged agreement in an office drawer, an agreement that was never entered into.

Jumped off - when the agreement was found

According to Bergström, she had signed the agreement at the request of her representative, Anders L Johansson, an agreement that gave former HR director Lena Thelin 30 months' salary of SEK 70,000 - at the same time as Thelin was unemployed.

When the gold contract later came to light in the public eye, Bergström found it too good to jump off.

Bergström was temporarily replaced in the summer by CFO Margareta Tufvesson, who left the job for a job in Stockholm after a few months.
