It was during the metoo autumn 2017 that the female environmentalist spread serious charges against her party colleague Stefan Nilsson via his Instagram account.

The publication received widespread dissemination and led to extensive media attention. Other charges appeared in the wake and Stefan Nilsson was kicked out of the Environmental Party's parliamentary group. He then refrained from running for the 2018 election.

The police report was closed

On Monday, the woman, who has now left the Environment Party, was facing trial in Södertörn District Court, charged with gross indecency. She admitted that she was behind the publication on the Instagram account and that the intention was that Stefan Nilsson would not be re-elected to Parliament.

"When the environmental parties choose their candidates, they must know," the woman said in court.

She had previously arrested Stefan Nilsson, but the investigation was closed.

"My political career has ended"

Prosecutor Henrik Olin said the publication was a textbook example of slander and that the woman must have understood that the consequences for Stefan Nilsson would be extensive.

"That was where my political career ended," said Stefan Nilsson, who left Parliament after the 2018 election.

The prosecutor asked for conditional judgment and daily fines for the woman. Stefan Nilsson claimed SEK 50,000 in damages.

The Environmental Party has previously declined to comment on an ongoing legal process. They fall on December 2.
