• Pontevedra: Two arrested in the first narcosubmarine detected in Galicia with three tons of cocaine on board

The Police and the Civil Guard are cooperating in the open investigations after the discovery of a submarine loaded with 2,000 kilos of cocaine in Galicia . The researchers suspect that the submersible loaded the drug on the high seas and later transferred it to Galicia, where it would be distributed throughout Europe .

They warn that this transport system is newly created in European waters, although there was knowledge and several submarines have already been discovered in South America . However, as agents of the investigation recall, in 2006 another abandoned submarine, homemade, was located in the waters of the Vigo estuary . It was used by a drug trafficking plot. When it was located it was empty.

The operation, which is still open, involves agents from the Civil Guard, National Police and the Tax Agency.

Two citizens of Ecuadorian nationality were arrested. A third party managed to avoid, at least for the moment, police control.

This action is linked to one carried out last June in which an international drug trafficking plot was dismantled. In that operation, the researchers warned that this branch, with penetrations in Europe, had a submarine for the transport of cocaine.

A month earlier, last May, Mexican drug trafficker Vicente Zambada Niebla , logistics coordinator of the Sinaloa cartel in the United States , was sentenced in Chicago (Illinois) to 15 years in prison, and not to life imprisonment, as expected, for his Collaboration with the authorities.

In his confession, as Efe reports, Vicentillo , son of number two of the cartel, Ismael El Mayo Zambada , explained to justice how they transported tons of cocaine in cargo planes, trains and submarines to the United States.
