After a weekend marked by spectacular weather in the Var and the Alpes-Maritimes, merchants whose shops have been affected hope to be reimbursed soon.

REPORTAGE

After a weekend marked by torrential rains and spectacular floods, during which at least four people were killed, victims of the Var and Alpes-Maritimes began to quantify the damage, including traders, as in Tourrades, near Cannes. While some stores were able to reopen this afternoon after a heavy morning cleaning, others have seen the water rise to a meter high and now expect a quick refund and up to the damage.

ON DECRYPT - Floods in the Southeast: why weather forecasts will improve

"We will lose a minimum of two days of opening", says the microphone of Europe 1 Stéphane Lame, director of the sign Norauto, where the water level has reached 40 centimeters. "At first, we will assess the damage, and in a second time, clean," he adds. And he'll have to go fast, he admits, "at this time of the year when we will start preparing the holidays". "We'll have to be very responsive," he anticipates.

"I hope insurance will come into account"

"Just before Christmas, it was really not the moment," insists Paul Beltran, who runs a family cleaning business. In its business, the equipment affected is "mainly electrical equipment and machinery". "We are going to let it dry, but there is already a good part of it in the trash - we have already filled three 660 liter containers", he explains for Europe 1.

"I hope the insurance will come into account," adds the leader, saying he does not know if the area is already recognized in a state of natural disaster. The mayor of Cannes has just made a request to this effect.
