The Minister of State for International Cooperation, Reem Bint Ibrahim Al Hashimi, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in support of the 2019 UN Humanitarian Response Plan in Yemen, and was signed by the UN Under-Secretary-General and Emergency Relief Coordinator, Marc Lukoc.

Al-Hashemi stressed that this funding is part of the UAE's fulfillment of its pledges to support the United Nations humanitarian efforts in Yemen to reach the most needy groups, especially women children.

For his part, Lukuk praised the UAE's generous support for the United Nations Humanitarian Response Plan for Yemen 2019, noting that this contribution has provided a lifeline to millions of Yemenis.

The contribution will cover humanitarian sectors based on needs assessments in providing health care to Yemenis, especially the most vulnerable groups of women and children, and reducing cholera by providing mothers and children with clean water to fight malnutrition through WHO, UNICEF and UNFPA. .

In addition, the UAE Red Crescent has stepped up its initiatives to combat thirst and provide water resources in Yemen. In continuation of the wise leadership initiatives in this regard, the Authority is currently implementing the water project “Hawaram Gaf Al-Awamir” in Hadramout governorate, benefiting 4000 people. Water projects that provide viable solutions to the problem of water scarcity on the Yemeni arena.

The Secretary General of the Red Crescent Authority, Mohamed Ateeq Al Falahi, stressed that the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, were among the initiatives undertaken by the wise leadership to develop and reconstruct the Yemeni governorates in all vital areas.
