“I am sure Europe cannot be safe without Ukraine as a member of NATO. Fortunately, over the past five years, Europeans have begun to realize that by investing in the security of Ukraine, they are also investing in their own security, ”he said at an international security conference in Halifax, Canada.

Poroshenko emphasized that joining NATO would be an incentive for reform in Ukraine, but at the same time would strengthen security in Europe.

He also called on the world community to unite around Ukraine and strengthen its international support.

“Most of all that Ukraine needs today is not money and not support for reforms - although this is also very important ... We need the unity of the whole world and solidarity with Ukraine,” Poroshenko said.

Earlier in Ukraine, they talked about plans to obtain NATO member status with expanded opportunities for cooperation.
