There are great benefits to having a Children's Home, Inger Ohlsson says. She is supported in a national investigation that Barnafrid recently did on behalf of the government. It states that: "The children's homes have come to mean improvements for children who have been subjected to violence and other abuses".

Do not lock the child around

The idea with Barnahus is that the child should be able to tell his story in a child-friendly place and not be locked around between different authorities and repeat his story to several people. Inger Ohlsson wants a coordinator and a local where everyone gathers and has the conditions to practice their profession.

- It is a success factor for being able to file more. We are trying to create mini-Children's Home here at the station. But we have no chance of receiving a doctor who performs examinations here. BUP is never part of and sometimes not social service because they are understaffed, says Inger Ohlsson.

The issue of Barnahus has been around for a long time

Halland is the only region in the southern parts of the country where none of the municipalities is linked to a Children's Home. But the issue was already discussed ten years ago.

- We have chosen, united, both from the police, municipalities and the region not to gather us in a Children's Home. But we are now doing a survey in Halland to then discuss whether we need to gather in a different way, to work better with our overall resources, says Mikaela Waltersson (M), chair of the regional board.

But when the survey is ready for the politicians to take a stand is unclear. If the question of Barnahus comes up again, there are, as before, a number of things to discuss.

- This is a big issue that also involves the police, our six municipalities and health care. But I think the most important thing is that there are staff and teams around the children, says Mikaela Waltersson (M).

Inger Ohlsson believes that the need for a Children's Home is already there. More about that in the clip above.
