During the operation, Spanish law enforcement authorities managed to detain two crew members - citizens of Ecuador, another suspect fled.
The crew tried to flood the submarine, and now they are trying to raise it to the surface.
Police do not rule out that the suspects were able to get rid of part of the cargo.
Earlier, 680 kg of cocaine were seized at a port in French Le Havre.
