24 November 2019The outgoing Romanian president, Klaus Iohannis, was re-elected. According to an exit poll by Ires, the conservative and pro-European leader would have won 66.5% of the votes while the challenger on the ballot, the former Social Democratic premier (PSD) Viorica Dancila, would have stopped at 33.5%.

A second poll at the polls, by CURS-Avangarde, assigns the victory to Iohannis with 64%.

Voter turnout was high, especially among the 4 million Romanians living abroad.
