The government of Ivan Duque has chosen the firmness to curb the protest movement started Thursday. More than 10,000 police and military troops deployed Saturday in the streets of the capital where a curfew was declared the night before, for the first time since 1977.

President Duque advances national dialogue
On Saturday, after the curfew is lifted, the city is strangely empty. In the center, spontaneously formed small groups of protesters are immediately dispersed by the riot police. As a result, President Ivan Duque has decided to advance the opening of the national dialogue, initially announced for next week, to this Sunday. " Tomorrow, we will begin a National Conversation with mayors and elected governors from across the country, " the rightist head of state said, adding that he will continue this dialogue next week with " different social sectors ".
