November 23, 2019The mayor of Rome, Virginia Raggi, asked the Environment Minister, Sergio Costa, to convene a meeting today to find 'without delay' a solution that avoids 'a very serious crisis' on the waste collection front, in particular following the closure of the Colleferro landfill. Raggi asked for the convocation of the President of the Region Nicola Zingaretti, of the Prefect of Rome, of the Head of Civil Protection and of the sole administrator of Ama.

The request to Costa was preceded by another letter from the mayor addressed to Zingaretti, in which an immediate meeting is deemed necessary and it is reiterated that the law does not attribute the choice of conferment sites to the Municipality but states that they are identified in the a regional competence plan that has not yet been approved.
