“The United States is arrogant unilaterally, taking numerous unilateral and protectionist measures, undermining multilateral mechanisms, including trade,” Wang Yi quotes the Foreign Minister as saying.

He noted that Washington should adhere to international standards and act in accordance with its responsibility to maintain peace and order.

Wang Yi also recalled the increase in pressure by the United States on Chinese companies, interference in China’s internal affairs through domestic law, and an attempt to undermine stability in Hong Kong.

“The United States thereby violates the UN Charter, the fundamental principles of international relations,” he stressed.

Earlier, President Xi Jinping called on the United States to avoid misunderstandings and strengthen cooperation on issues of strategic importance.

According to him, against the backdrop of the major challenges that countries face, it is advisable to focus on similar positions and strive to resolve the differences.

On November 20, the Chinese authorities strongly condemned the adoption by the US Senate of a bill on the protection of human rights and democracy in Hong Kong, which provides for the imposition of sanctions against those who violate human rights, noting that the United States should immediately stop interfering in the internal affairs of China.

For several months, protests in Hong Kong did not cease due to an amendment to the extradition law, which the authorities subsequently decided to refuse.
