The December 5 strike, which is already on the horizon for transport, should also affect the energy sector. Three out of four EDF unions announced that they were calling for work stoppage to protest pension reform. This could benefit some families in fuel poverty.

INTERVIEW

"We have a special pension plan to defend." Laurent Heredia, federal secretary in charge of the claims process to the CGT, confirmed on Europe 1 Friday the involvement of his union in the protest movement of December 5. Favorable pension system by benefit, the executive at RTE is against the pension plan by points which, according to him, "would lower pensions for all employees" of his professional sector.

Do not "disadvantage" users

But unlike transport, where trains will be few, the strike in the energy sector could have a positive impact for some French. "We are not trying to disadvantage users," confirms Laurent Heredia. As "a very complicated winter phase for modest families begins", the strikers could "restore enough energy to a certain number of people," according to the federal secretary of the CGT. "We will do it as we usually do," he confirms, while 13 million people are in fuel poverty in France.

"Target cuts"

On the other hand, the unions will seek "to hit on the economic sector of the electricity and the gas", but also "on the public authorities". The CGT calls on Europe 1 "to target cuts on infrastructure of public authorities, such as prefectures or sub-prefectures." Some large companies, where employees will stop work on December 5, may also be affected on the day of the event.
