November 22, 2019The Court of Ministers, accepting the request of the Rome Public Prosecutor's Office, closed the investigation against the former Interior Minister, Matteo Salvini, for abuse of office and refusal of office for the Alan Kurdi affair of the NGO Sea Eye of 3 April 2019.

The position of the prefect Matteo Piantedosi, head of the Cabinet of the Interior Ministry was also filed.

The ship of the German NGO rescued 64 migrants aboard a rubber boat off the coast of Libya. After Salvini's "no" at the landing, the ship, with women and children on board, reached Malta on 13 April and the migrants were distributed between Germany, France, Luxembourg and Portugal.
