22 November 2019In Spain, Judge Manuel García-Castellón opened an investigation into a hypothesis of collusion between Catalan separatists and Russian services, in particular the military intelligence Gru, about the unrest in Catalonia. The activity of destabilization of Spain is presumed by the Russian elite military unit 29155 which is headed by the Moscow General Staff.

One of the suspects would be the Crane officer with the false identity of Serghej Fedotov. The latter visited Barcelona twice, the last time in September 2017, two days before the independence referendum. Spanish investigators have already found some links between the Catalan secessionists and Russian agents.

In particular, Víctor Terradellas, a man very close to Carles Puigdemont, former president of the Generalitat de Catalunya, of whom he was an adviser for international relations, pushing him to proclaim the independence of Catalonia. In one of the messages on WhatsApp Terradellas would have reassured Puigdemont about the support of a Vladimir Putin emissary.
