Earlier, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov discussed with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Arakchi tension in the Persian Gulf, calling for a chance for diplomacy.

The concept of collective security in the Persian Gulf was presented by Russia to the UN Security Council and the General Assembly in July 2019.

It was noted that the document is based on the principles of phasing, multilateralism and strict observance of international law, in particular, the UN Charter and the Security Council resolution.
