November 22, 2019Two young men, a man and a woman, died this night following a fire in the attic of a building in the Navigli area of ​​Milan. Firefighters intervened following an alarm raised by a neighbor; once the flames were extinguished the bodies of the two were found, while a third person reported no consequences. Carabinieri are also on site.

A 29-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman lost their lives, probably caught in their sleep. Death would occur following the intoxication due to combustion fumes. The third person who survived the fire, a relative of the woman, is 59 years old. The alarm to the Fire Brigade came shortly after 3 am from the building in Alzaia Naviglio Grande.

To cause the fire, according to the first information, it would have been a short circuit. The flames started at about 3:30 am in the house on the first floor, in particular from the attic area. A 29-year-old boy born in La Spezia and a 27-year-old Milanese girl lost their lives: the two died from serious burns and intoxication despite the resuscitation operations by 118 staff.

The firefighters have worked extensively to extinguish the fire and have made the first investigations, which now confirm the hypothesis of a fire caused by a short circuit, excluding malicious dynamics and the involvement of third parties.
