Chinese women's rights fighter misses award ceremony in Sweden

Guo Jianmei, 58, was awarded the Right Livelihood Award for helping to highlight gender discrimination in the legal system in China. In two weeks she would have received the award during a ceremony in Stockholm.

- Unfortunately, I cannot go into the reason why Guo Jianmei does not come to Stockholm. She has informed us that she cannot come and unfortunately it is so, he says.

- It is extremely regrettable of course. For 25 years, Guo Jianmei has strengthened women's rights in China in a pioneering way.

According to Swedish Radio, Guo Jianmei has been banned from outbound travel by Chinese authorities. However, there is nothing that Johannes Mosskin wants to comment on.

In addition to Guo Jianmei, Greta Thunberg is also one of this year's four award winners.
