Breeze Fenoy . Algeciras, 1991. Although his mission is to write songs -which go beyond the bad , his feminist anthem of 2018-, he now also writes books. Love or power is your manifesto for a life without fear.

It is defined as an author of ethical pop, of 'mainstream' with message. That is: a Trojan horse in the commercial record industry. Has it worked? I will not deny that at first I had more faith. I was 100 percent convinced that artists like me were missing. Artists with ideals, who will use music as a weapon to defend consciences and reflect. I started very excited, with a lot of inner strength, and I thought that if there were no more artists like me it was because they had not tried. And surely it was because they were not allowed to be in that position. Right? Of course, at some point you realize that it is not that there are not such artists in multinationals, they do not leave any gap. Then, little by little, they keep you away, stored in a drawer, without marketing and promotion support. You make a video, but it looks little, and you are not heard so much on Spotify, unless 60,000 euros are invested in YouTube, as is done with other artists. With the rhythm of life we lead, people usually listen to what you put into it. There are people who are looking, of course, but basically the public hears what is found. And without that support, we have more complicated claiming artists. What is the solution? Become indie? I feel lonely, but I reaffirm that I have to go on my way and keep getting songs. I couldn't do it with my record label [Universal], so now I'm going to do it on my own with RLM. This music still has its audience, and you can still reach many people with social networks, even if you have no means to get millions of views thanks to marketing. Would you say your thing is protest song? Yes, I see myself in that part of the history of music. Art must reflect your reality, and my reality is not super cool, which is what we want to sell through pop. While there are wars, people who go hungry, or who suffer economic inequality, is what I want to do. Let's see, I'm also a happy person, I laugh, I don't live in bitterness. But reality also asks us to wake up, and there have to be people who urge us to do so. The system is not equitable, this democracy is super false, they push us to fight among those of the people for some crumbs. In the book, 'Love or power' (Today's Issues, 2019), it exposes some fully leftist convictions, but neither It sounds dogmatic. Because I don't believe in prejudging, stigmatizing or tending to extremes. Love does not consist of that. Love does not judge. There are things that are not right and we know it because what is not right pushes us to fear, and fear leads to the will to power. What causes the ego to overcome everything else. There are ways to empower oneself that are not good because they swell your ego. I try to stay true to an essence that consists of seeing, reading, thinking and learning, and when I realize that I am prejudging, I stop. I have been educated with values that are leftist, but that does not prevent you from reflecting on the reasons of the extremes and understanding why it happens. The extremes are dictatorial, and power is fear. Even on the left there must be love. Are there moments in your life when you feel that fear you are talking about? For example, are you afraid to face the defense of a book like this? In the book I already say that I am not a writer. But still, we all have something to say, and we have to be encouraged and inspired to say what we think without fear. A friend of mine, who is president of Twitter in Spain, once said that every day you had to do something that scares you, and I have been following that advice for a long time. Of course I was afraid to make this book, but that is precisely why I have done it. I also fear when I get on stage. Whatever you do, everyone will judge you. So do what you feel and move with the force of love. There is an intermediate position that is increasingly noticeable in society: it is not about acting or reacting, but about doing nothing. Nihilism, non-participation. Do you understand that attitude? I understand the reasoning, but in the end you live within a system that you can ignore, but the system does not ignore you. You may not vote, for example, but by isolating yourself you feed the system. Doing nothing will not change anything. There is no other country within your country where you will be better. I think we have to act, although we are few and feel alone. If you stay only with your work, TV, Playstation and drugs, the reality will remain harsh. I prefer to die standing than to live on my knees. And it is not so difficult to find an engine for action: dedicate part of your free time to a cause, promote an action, cooperate. If not, we end up very isolated without acting in one direction. Social networks individualize us. And beware, I use social networks, and I share things, I disclose ... That's fine. But it is more important to do something, not just be there. You have suffered lynchings on social networks, especially since many fans of Operation Triunfo did not like their song, 'The Bad'. What does it feel like in such a moment? It is very unpleasant, you see a lot of people that you do not put face and who go to tuntun for you in a very aggressive way, they insult you ... They tell you things like hopefully you die. If you have not lived it, it is difficult to put yourself in the shoes of another. Then you digest it, you think it, you write down what has happened, and you realize that these people have gone for you today and tomorrow they will go for another because they do not live their life, they may have emotional deficiencies, they are dead of fear, and They have to criticize to feel something bigger. It is the ego. People who keep pain seem much power and arrogance. I suppose it is something inherent to the human being, in the end the system promotes competition and dehumanization. His song 'The Bad' was about to go to Eurovision. Have you fantasized what would have happened? It was a reggaeton base with positive, fresh lyrics for what the contest is. He could have gone far. Many people tell me. But I have not fantasized more. I was commissioned for Operation Triunfo , I did, as I accept other commissions, and sometimes the songs fly alone and sometimes not. I was surprised that it went so far, that it became a feminist anthem that would help break a gap in reality. It was cool and I'm glad I did it, but that's it. It is also true that Spain would have been more legitimate to bring a song like that to Eurovision, much more than Cyprus [Cyprus was second in 2018 with Fuego, sung by Eleni Foureira]. 'The bad thing' was interpreted by Ana Guerra and Aitana. How do you feel that these former OT contestants keep the song in their repertoire while they embrace the idea of power, putting their name on perfumes or working for the more hedonistic side of pop? As I said, I am nobody to judge. If they have made those decisions, it is because it will be the best for their careers. I am glad that this song is in your repertoire and that it spreads and reaches many people promoting that message. Everyone has to make their decisions, as I take mine. So, what I will not do will be to promote materialistic ideas such as private jet, money or Lamborghini. It does not take away my dream to have less likes in my networks or less visualizations of my videos, because I am going the way I want to take. It is a bit like Jedi philosophy, it is difficult to resist the dark side. It all happens to us. No one is exempt from making those decisions, nobody is pure one hundred percent. We all have to pay the rent, and I have received brands that have asked me for music for an ad, and I have had to choose. And sometimes I have chosen to work with them. I hope music goes well and I can stop doing it, but in the meantime there are moments in life when you have to go through the hoop. There are people who have more filter and people who have less. That said, if you have to choose the path of power or love, I tend to love.
