When the Cancer Foundation visited Karlskrona recently, it was revealed that a third of the approximately 60,000 people affected by the disease in Sweden each year could have been prevented by better living habits and healthy weight.

According to the Cancer Foundation, Blekinge is at the national level when it comes to eating habits in the state. 22 percent of the population eats fruit and vegetables more than three times a day.

It is worse with obesity, where Blekinge is at the bottom of the list. 17 percent of the population is overweight compared to the national average of 15 percent.

"Diet is an important reason why we cannot maintain normal weight," says Isabel Drake from Lund University, who has researched the link between diet and cancer.
