A study conducted by Sahlgrenska Hospital shows that it is safer for a child's survival to initiate a birth in week 41 instead of 42, which is the current guidelines.

The study was interrupted since six children who participated in the study died, all in week 42. Already, Dalarna changed its routines around start-up.

SVT News Västerbotten reported on the new studies this summer, but then Region Västerbotten wanted to await the results of the study before any changes to the routines are made.

- We can't say how we do until we have the results. We thought we would get them late this spring, but we didn't get that, said Eva Innala, who is the head of operations for the Center for Obstetrics and Gynecology at Region Västerbotten, this summer.

Although the results have now arrived, the region is postponing any possible routine change.

- We await SFOG (Swedish Association for Obstetrics and Gynecology) recommendations, writes Eva Innala in an email to SVT.
