“On the fact of thefts during the construction of the Vostochny cosmodrome facilities, two criminal cases have been instituted on the grounds of crimes under Part 4 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of Russia (“Fraud committed by a person using his official position, on an especially large scale”), ”the statement says.
According to the investigation, from November 2018 to May 2019, the leadership of one of the enterprises that is the executor of the state contract for the cosmodrome construction facility provided information on the need to pay for special equipment rental agreements that were not actually executed, as well as forged financial and business documents.
Based on the submitted securities, the Federal Treasury Department in the Republic of Tatarstan transferred more than 240 million rubles.
On November 11, spokesman for the Russian President Dmitry Peskov said that during the construction of the Vostochny spaceport, 11 billion rubles were stolen, of which 3.5 billion were returned.
