MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russia has opened two more corruption investigations into Russia's Vostochny space launch facility, the country's top investigative agency said on Thursday.

An unnamed company involved in the construction of the facility this year paid more than 240 million rubles ($ 3.7 million) to lease equipment "not already used," the commission said in a statement.

The Vostoshny Komodrom platform in Russia's far east, about 8,000 kilometers east of Moscow, is expected to reduce Russia's dependence on the Baikonur launch facility built by the Soviet Union in neighboring Kazakhstan.

The construction work of Vostochny, some of which is still ongoing, was surrounded by delays and corruption charges.

The Kremlin said earlier this month that about 10 percent of construction funds - about $ 169 million of the total $ 1.4 billion - had been stolen.
