Baden-Baden (AP) - Hollywood actress Naomi Watts (51), Belgian Queen Mathilde (46) and singer Sarah Connor (39) will receive this year's Bambi media award on Thursday.

They accept the awards at a gala event with around 1,000 guests in the Festspielhaus in Baden-Baden, as Hubert Burda Media announced in advance. Other winners include the rapper and influencer Shirin David (24), the athlete Niklas Kaul (21) and the swimmer Florian Wellbrock (22). Other winners will be announced on the stage in the evening.

It is the 71st edition of the annual Bambi Awards. It will be broadcast live on the ARD from 8.15 pm on. The publisher Burda («Bunte», «Focus») awards the fawn trophy annually since 1948.

The Bambi Gala takes place for the first time in Baden-Baden. Previously she was in Berlin for six years. Guests of this year's awards ceremony are, according to the information, among other showmaster Thomas Gottschalk and football coach Joachim Loew.

In the national film and television categories, this year's winners are not yet determined in advance. A jury decides who gets the golden deer in the end. Among the nominees are known German actors such as Uwe Ochsenknecht, Alexandra Maria Lara, Jella Haase, Louise Heyer and Bjarne Mädel.

The musicians Lena Meyer-Landrut, Nico Santos and Max Giesinger compete for this year's Audience Award. Nothing is decided yet: Fans can vote online who will take home the trophy in the form of a golden deer.
