A boy was seriously injured after being hit by a truck on Skogsmursgatan in Andersberg during Tuesday afternoon. According to police, the boy must have gotten off a bus and then gone across the road.

Now criticism is being directed at the municipality of Gävle from several quarters who believe that the bus stop is not safe.

- It may not be super safe. When we were planning to build another bus stop, we would prefer to have a bus stop directly when you turn off from Skogsmursgatan to Vinddraget. But that didn't fit, says Marie Grew, traffic planner at Gävle Municipality.

"The bus stop is too narrow"

The bus stop location is disputed. Criticism is also directed from the Somali Association in Gävle, which states that the traffic situation has worsened after a pedestrian crossing has been removed from Skogsmursgatan and the bus stop Vinddraget has been removed.

- We have addressed the traffic situation with the municipality several times. The only thing they have done is to put up a sign about overtaking but that is not enough. The bus stop is too narrow. It is not safe, says Said Abdulaahi, bus driver and spokesperson for the Somali Association in Gävle.

Second accident this year

At the nearby pizzeria, the rescue team saw the rescue service take care of the boy during Tuesday afternoon. But it was not the first accident that staff have experienced up close.

- The bus stops are very dangerous. People want to get there as soon as possible and there are many cars driving on the road, says Ahmad Nama Kidam.

On Tuesday evening, the boy was taken to the Academic Hospital in Uppsala. In connection with the accident, a girl under the age of 15 was also injured when she was driven by a police car that went out to the accident. An incident that is being investigated internally by the police.
