The court also sent Igor Malmakov, a former deputy of the Elist City Council, under house arrest.

“Based on the materials of the criminal case submitted to the court substantiating the petition for the selection of a preventive measure, Vyacheslav Namruev was detained, and in respect of Igor Malmakov the court decided to elect a preventive measure in the form of house arrest,” the UK said.

According to the agency, Namruev and Malmakov are suspected of receiving a bribe.

Earlier, the UK instituted proceedings against the former head of Elista on suspicion of abuse of power.
