November 20, 2019Gordon Sondland confirms the allegations against Donald Trump, for which an impeachment investigation has been launched into an alleged exchange of favors with Ukraine. The American ambassador to the EU said, during a hearing at the Congress, that the president conditioned the coming of a meeting with the Ukrainian president, Vlolodimir Zelensky, at the resumption of an inquiry by the judiciary of Kiev against Hunter Biden, son of Joe's former vice president. Sondland said he followed Trump's "directions", asking to block aid in Kiev if the latter had not put that corruption investigation back on its feet.

The ambassador admits that he worked with Rudolph Giuliani on the orders of President Trump to put pressure on Ukraine. Trump would have ordered the 'quid pro quo' to be prosecuted through Giuliani, linking the visit of the Ukrainian president to the White House and aid to Kiev to start investigating his political rivals.

"I had mentioned to Vice President Pence, before the meetings with the Ukrainians, that I was worried that the delay in aid had been linked to the question of the investigation. I remember citing this before the meeting with Zelensky," he said, according to CNN Sondland, in the opening statement to the Congress as part of the hearing linked to the investigations into the possible impeachment of President Donald Trump.
