November 20, 2019A few hours after the promise of grace granted by Maltese Prime Minister Joseph Muscat to the alleged mediator of the murder of journalist Daphne Caruana Galicia, the business man Yorgen Fenech, one of Malta's leading entrepreneurs, was arrested.

He was aboard his yacht, intercepted and blocked by the Maltese armed forces (AFM) while trying to get out of the territorial waters. The Times of Malta reports.

Fenech is also the owner of the secret 17 Black fund, denounced by Caruana.

Yesterday the Maltese Prime Minister Joseph Muscat signed the letter granting the presidential pardon to the man who claims to know the identity of the instigator of the murder of journalist Daphne Caruana Galicia. The provision was conditional on the actual confirmation in court of the evidence provided by the man.

Muscat explained to journalists that the pardon would apply to any process in which the man should be involved, as long as there is collaboration on his part with the authorities also in relation to those events.

The 'intermediary', through his lawyer, asked for the pardon in exchange for the information in his possession on the murder of Caruana Galicia. "If this person cooperates and the information provided is sufficient to try the instigator of this crime, then he will receive the presidential pardon," said the Maltese prime minister.
