A law incorporating the establishment of a new organization that centralizes policy planning and domestic procedures for the expansion of exports of agriculture, forestry and fishery products was passed at the Plenary session of the House of Councilors on the 20th.
Under this law, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries newly establishes the “Agricultural, Forestry and Fisheries Products and Food Export Headquarters” to centrally manage policy planning and domestic procedures.
It has been pointed out that domestic procedures for clearing the sanitary standards necessary for export now span multiple provinces and hinder export expansion.
For this reason, we are aiming to further expand exports by establishing a new organization within the government that serves as a command tower. The government is aiming for the enforcement of this law in April next year.
Regarding the export of agricultural, forestry and fishery products and foods, the goal is to increase the annual export value to 1 trillion yen, but it is 664.5 billion yen by September, which is difficult to achieve.
