"We go out and change 30-40 squares a year," says Fredrik Nyqvist, project manager at Jönköping Municipality. It is about SEK 3000 per box.

Most of the damage is done in central Jönköping. The bus shelters, or weather protection, which they are really called, are owned and managed by a company and are not included in the municipality's statistics. But of the municipality's more than 100 bus shelters, many are destroyed each year.

- It's about a couple of hundred thousand kronor. This is money we could have put on something better, says Fredrik Nyqvist.

Glass crusher on the bench

When we visit one of the stops on Kortebovägen, there is a glass crush in and around the bus shed. Ana Castillanos sits carefully on the bench and waits for the bus. Small pieces of glass are there.

- I was surprised that such a thing happens here in Jönköping, it's such a quiet city, she says. I come from Mexico and that's what happens all the time.

Comes in waves

Maryann Svensson will also take the bus into the center.

- I don't think this is good. It is dangerous to step on the glass, she says.

- I saw this already yesterday. I'm surprised it was still there today. In Sweden it is cleaned so often, says Ana Castillanos.

Two of the previous stops have also been vandalized. There are still no windows, but the glass crusher is gone.

- It comes in waves. Above all, we notice that there will be more damage in connection with the school law, says Fredrik Nyqvist.
